The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Whereas the Government of Canada, in a declaration a copy of which is set out in the Schedule to this Order, has designated the Northwest Territories as a province or territory of Canada to which the Convention Between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Canada Providing for the Reciprocal Recognition and Enforcement of Judgments in Civil and Commercial Matters(1) shall extend:
And whereas it is expedient to specify that the courts of the Northwest Territories are recognised courts for the purposes of Part I of the Foreign Judgments (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act 1933(2):
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1 of that Act and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
A copy of the Convention is set out in the Schedule to S.I. 1987/468.
1933 c. 13, as extended by S.I. 1933/1073 and amended by section 35(1) of and Schedule 10 to the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments Act 1982 (c. 27).
