Whereas Folkestone and District Water Company, Mid-Sussex Water Company and West Kent Water Company each hold an appointment under Chapter I of Part II of the Water Act 1989(1) as a water undertaker (“the Companies”):
And whereas each company has, pursuant to section 162(6)(a) of that Act, submitted to the Secretary of State for his approval a Code of Practice(2) with respect to the exercise by the Companies of powers conferred by or by virtue of paragraph 4 of Schedule 19 to that Act (“the Codes of Practice”):
And whereas the Secretary of State considers it appropriate to approve the Codes of Practice for the purpose of promoting what appear to him to be desirable practices with regard to the exercise by the Companies of those powers:
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers under section 162(7) of the Water Act 1989, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after consulting all such persons as he considers it appropriate to consult, hereby makes the following Order:
Copies of the Codes of Practice may be inspected at the Department of the Environment, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY, and may be obtained free of charge from the appropriate company: Folkestone and District Water Company, The Cherry Garden, Cherry Garden Lane, Folkestone, Kent CT19 4QB; Mid-Sussex Water Company, PO Box 183, 1—3 Church Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 3DX; West Kent Water Company, PO Box 183, 1—3 Church Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 3DX.
