The Secretary of State and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, being satisfied that it is expedient to apply section 42(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981(1) to the land hereafter mentioned which is comprised in a National Park and which appears to them to consist of or include moor or heath, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 42 and 52(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:
1. –
(1) This Order may be cited as the Dartmoor National Park (Restriction of Agricultural Operations) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 16th July 1991.
(2) In this Order–
“the Act” means the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981; and “the map” means the map entitled “Map referred to in the Dartmoor National Park (Restriction of Agricultural Operations) Order 1991”, of which prints signed by an Under Secretary in the Department of the Environment and by an Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, are deposited and available for inspection at the offices of the Department of the Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Dartmoor National Park Authority.
2. Section 42(2) of the Act (restriction of agricultural operations) shall apply to the land situated at Cator Common, Cator, Widecombe, in the county of Devon within the Dartmoor National Park and shown on the map hatched and edged black.
3. The operations listed in the Schedule hereto are specified pursuant to section 42(2)(b) of the Act as agricultural operations which appear to the Secretary of State and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to be likely to affect the character or appearance of the said land.

Article 3
1. Removing gorse, bracken or scrub.
2. Levelling or bulldozing.
3. Removing rocks, walls, hedges or trees.
4. Draining.
5. Spraying (including the application of herbicides or pesticides).
6. Liming or fertilising.
7. Erecting buildings, structures or fences.
8. Depositing anything on the land.
9. Re-seeding.
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order applies section 42(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (which imposes restrictions on agricultural operations) to an area, shown on the map referred to in this Order, of approximately 250 acres of moor or heath at Cator Common, Cator, Widecombe, in the county of Devon within the Dartmoor National Park.
The Order also specifies certain agricultural operations which are likely to affect the character or appearance of the land and which are restricted by the Order.
Copies of the map may be inspected at all reasonable times at the Department of the Environment, 2 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3EB, at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food at Whitehall Place, London SW1A 2HH, and at the offices of the Dartmoor National Park Authority at Parke, Haytor Road, Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ13 9JQ.
