In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 3(2)(b) of Schedule 11 to the Education Reform Act 1988(1), the Secretary of State for Education hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 30th December 1993.

Continuation of duties and powers

2.  The University Commissioners' duties and powers shall continue for the period from 1st January 1994 until 1st January 1995.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order continues the University Commissioners' powers and duties until 1st January 1995. By virtue of paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 11 to the Education Reform Act 1988, their powers and duties would have ceased on 29th July 1991, but they were extended until 31st December 1992 by the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1991 (S.I. 1991/1427), and further extended until 1st January 1994 by the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1992 (S.I. 1992/3064).
