In pursuance of paragraph 1 of Schedule 4 to the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963(1), having regard to the definition of “prescribed” in section 55(1) of that Act, I hereby make the following Regulations:
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Licensed Betting Offices (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st March 1993.
(2) These Regulations shall not extend to Scotland.
2. Regulation 6 of the Licensed Betting Offices Regulations 1986(2) shall be amended by the substitution, for the words “between 6.30 p.m. and midnight.”, of the following words:
“:
(a)between 10 p.m. and midnight during April, May, June, July and August; and
(b)between 6.30 p.m. and midnight at any other time of the year.”.

These Regulations amend the Licensed Betting Offices Regulations 1986 by providing that a licensed betting office must be closed between 10 p.m. and midnight on any day between April and August, inclusive. For the rest of the year, such an office must be closed between 6.30 p.m. and midnight, as was previously the case throughout the year.
