Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her bysection 2(3) of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978(1)and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Maximum Number of Judges (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 11th March 1993.
2. In section 2(1) of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978 (the High Court) for the words “not more than six puisne judges” there shall be substituted the words “not more than seven puisne judges”.

This Order amends section 2(1) of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978 to increase from six to seven the maximum number of puisne judges in Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice in Northern Ireland.
