The Oxfordshire County Council (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) make this Scheme in exercise of its powers under Section 106 of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other enabling powers:—
1. The Council is authorised to construct over the navigable waters of the River Thames the bridge specified in the Schedule to this scheme as part of the Thames Path National Trail between the Thames Barrier at Greenwich and the river’s source at Kemble, Gloucestershire. The bridge is to be a footpath.
2. This Scheme may be cited as The Oxfordshire County Council (Shifford Island Footbridge) Scheme 1993.
The site and general design of the bridge are shown on plan numbered B699/B1 annexed hereto.
From a point 2 metres west of the west bank of the River Thames.
To a point 2 metres east of the east bank of the River Thames.
All on Ordnance Sheet SP 30 SE. (Being approximately 10 metres south of the wier outfall of Shifford Lock Cut).
The Bridge will be 1.8 metres wide overall and will carry a footpath 1.5 metres wide. It will have an overall length of 20.5 metres.
The navigation square span is 18.5 metres.
A minimum headway of 3.5 metres over a width of 5 metres.
Waterway, minimum width 14 metres.
