The Fishguard—Bangor Trunk Road (A487) (Pont Seiont Improvement, Caernarfon) Order 1994

The Secretary of State for Wales makes this Order in exercise of his powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and of all other enabling powers:—

1.  The new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become a trunk road as from the date when this Order comes into force.

2.  The centre line of the new trunk road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

3.  The length of trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Gwynedd that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

4.  In this Order—

all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway.

i.“the deposited plan” means the plan numbered HA10/2 W102 marked “the Fishguard—Bangor Trunk Road (A487) (Pont Seiont Improvement, Caernarfon) Order 1994”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Wales and deposited at the Welsh Office Repository, Curran Embankment, Cardiff.

ii.“the new trunk road” means the highway mentioned in article 1 of this Order;

iii.“the trunk road” means the Fishguard—Bangor Trunk Road (A487);

5.  This order shall come into force on 8th September 1994 and may be cited as the Fishguard—Bangor Trunk Road (A487) (Pont Seiont Improvement, Caernarfon) Order 1994.

SCHEDULE 1ROUTE OF THE NEW TRUNK ROAD

The route of the new trunk road is a route at Pont Seiont in Caernarfon in the County of Gwynedd as follows:—

  • A route about 270 metres in length starting at a point on the trunk road 25 metres southeast of its junction with Pant Road and terminating at a point on the trunk road 145 metres northeast of its junction with St Helen’s Road.

SCHEDULE 2LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is that length of the Trunk Road (South Road) for a distance of approximately 180 metres between a point about 55 metres north east of its junction with Pant Road and a point 100 metres north of its junction with Saint Helen’s Road.
