The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1) and (3) of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis pursuant to section 7(6) of that Act(2), hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the A23 Trunk Road (Streatham High Road, Lambeth) (Prohibition of Right Turn) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 3rd September 1994.
2. In this Order:
“the trunk road” means that length of the A23 Trunk Road in the London Borough of Lambeth known as Streatham High Road; and
“London local service” has the meaning given in section 34(1) of the Transport Act 1985(3).
3.—(1) The Lambeth (Prescribed Routes) (No. 4) Traffic Order 1966(4), shall be varied as follows.
(2) Article 4 shall be omitted.
4. Save as provided in article 5 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding in the trunk road to make a right turn into Gleneldon Road.
5. Nothing in article 4 above shall apply—
(a)to a public service vehicle being used in the provision of a London local service;
(b)to a vehicle being used for police, ambulance or fire brigade purposes; or
(c)to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a constable in uniform or of a traffic warden.
