2. In regulation 5(1) of the European Parliamentary Elections Regulations 1986 (application of provisions of the Representation of the People Acts for the purposes of European Parliamentary elections)(1), after sub–paragraph (ii)(2) there shall be inserted:
“(iia)rule 22(1)(i) of the rules in Schedule 1 to the Act of 1983 is to that provision as amended by paragraph 83 of Schedule 19 to the Education Act 1993(3);”.

S.I. 1986/2209; the title of this instrument was amended by the provisions referred to in the first footnote to these Regulations. S.I. 1986/2209 was also amended by S.I. 1989/633, and there have been other amendments to it which are not relevant to these Regulations.

Sub–paragraph (ii) was inserted by regulation 2(1) of the European Parliamentary Elections (Amendment) Regulations 1992 (S.I. 1992/723).
