The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 50(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consulting local authorities, the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, the Commissioner of Police for the City of London and London Regional Transport in accordance with section 50(3) and (4) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:—

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the London Priority Route (Amendment) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 1st June 1995.

Amendment of the London Priority Route Order 1992

2.  The Schedule to the London Priority Route Order 1992(2) shall be amended in accordance with the Schedule to this Order.

Article 2

THE SCHEDULEAMENDMENTS OF THE SCHEDULE TO THE LONDON PRIORITY ROUTE ORDER 1992

1.  In paragraph 7, for the words “Bishopsgate (A1213 section)”, there shall be substituted “Eastcheap (A100)”.

2.  In paragraph 10, for the words “Ingrebourne Road”, there shall be substituted “Wennington Road”.

3.  In paragraph 12, for the words “from the boundary of London”, there shall be substituted “from its junction with the A224”.

4.  In paragraph 16—

(a)in sub-paragraph (a) for the words “Merton High Street”, there shall be substituted “High Street Colliers Wood”; and

(b)for sub-paragraph (d) there shall be substituted—

(d)High Street Colliers Wood from the south-west side of its junction with Priory Road to its junction with Christchurch Road;.

5.  Paragraph 36 shall be omitted.

6.  In paragraph 38, sub-paragraphs (a) and (b) shall be omitted.

7.  In paragraph 40, for the words “Matthews Road”, there shall be substituted “Saint Matthew’s Road”.

8.  In paragraph 48—

(a)the word “and” at the end of sub-paragraph (a) shall be omitted; and

(b)at the end of sub-paragraph (b) there shall be inserted “; and (c) Swandon Way”.

9.  In paragraph 50, for sub-paragraph (a) there shall be substituted—

(a)Epsom Road from its junction with Purley Way (A23) to its junction with Duppas Hill Road;.

10.  For paragraph 55, there shall be substituted—

55.  A312 from its junction with Country Way and Great Chertsey Road (A316) to its junction with Western Avenue (A40).

11.  In paragraph 57, sub-paragraphs (b), (d), (e) and (f) shall be omitted.

12.  Paragraph 58 shall be omitted.

13.  In paragraph 61, for the words “Westway (A40(M))”, there shall be substituted “Old Marylebone Road (A501)”.

14.  In paragraph 64, for the words “to its junction with Parkway (A4201)”, there shall be substituted “to its junction with Kentish Town Road and Camden High Street (A400) at Camden Town”.

15.  Paragraph 72 shall be omitted.

16.  In paragraph 81, for “(A3123)”, there shall be substituted “(A3213)”.

17.  After paragraph 88 there shall be inserted—

88A.  A4180 from its junction with The Parkway (A312) to the south-east side of its junctions with Western Avenue (A40).

18.  Paragraph 89 shall be omitted.

19.  In paragraph 91, for the words “Acton Street”, there shall be substituted “Swinton Street”.

20.  After paragraph 93, but beneath the cross-heading ““B” Roads (in numerical order)”, there shall be inserted—

93A.  King’s Cross Road (B503) from the north side of its junction with Penton Rise to the south side of its junction with Swinton Street.

21.  Paragraph 98 shall be omitted.

22.  After paragraph 103 there shall be inserted—

103A.  Besson Street from its junction with Kender Street to its junction with New Cross Road (A2).

23.  After paragraph 105 there shall be inserted—

105A.  Camden Street from the south-east side of its junction with Camden Road (A503) to its junction with Oakley Square.

24.  After paragraph 109 there shall be inserted—

109A.  Harrington Square (south side).

25.  After paragraph 110 there shall be inserted—

110A.  Kender Street from its junction with New Cross Road (A2) to its junction with Queens Road (A202).

26.  After paragraph 110A there shall be inserted—

110B.  Lidlington Place.

27.  After paragraph 111 there shall be inserted—

111A.  Marylebone Flyover from its junction with Westway (A40(M)) to its junction with Marylebone Road.

111B.  Marylebone Road from its junction with Marylebone Flyover to its junction with Old Marylebone Road (A501).

28.  In paragraph 112, for the words “Matthews Road”, there shall be substituted “Saint Matthew’s Road”.

29.  After paragraph 115 there shall be inserted—

115A.  Oakley Square (south east section) from its junction with Camden Street to its junction with Lidlington Place.

115B.  Penton Rise from its junction with Pentonville Road to its junction with King’s Cross Road (B503).

30.  Paragraph 122 shall be omitted.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order makes changes to the priority route network in London designated, for the purposes of Part II of the Road Traffic Act 1991, by the London Priority Route Order 1992.
