The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 153 4) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes Order 1995 and shall come into force on 15th February 1995.
2. In section 153 1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (purposes for which financial assistance may be given) there shall be inserted after paragraph (v)(1):
“(w)any national or international architectural award scheme or competition scheme relating to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment;
(x)the National Forest Company.”

This Order varies section 153 1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to enable the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, to give financial assistance to or for the purposes of:
(a)national or international architectural award schemes or competition schemes relating to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment; and
(b)the National Forest Company, whose main objects are to promote and implement the National Forest strategy for the creation of the National Forest in the Midlands area of England and related matters.
