The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 153(4) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes Order 1996 and shall come into force on 1st April 1996.
2. The following is hereby added to section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 after paragraph (bb)(2):
“(cc)the programme known as the Mersey Basin Campaign, in so far as it relates to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment, administered by the Mersey Basin Business Foundation;
(dd)Going For Green Limited, in so far as the activities of that company relate to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment.”.

This Order varies section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to enable the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, to give financial assistance to the programme known as the Mersey Basin Campaign, in so far as it relates to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment, administered by the Mersey Basin Business Foundation; and to Going For Green Limited in so far as the activities of that company relate to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment.
