Interpretation

3.  In this Order—

(a) “the Islands” means the South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands;

(b) a reference to a fine on the standard scale means a fine of an amount not exceeding the amount specified in relation to that level of the standard scale of fines appearing in section 37(2) of the Criminal Justice Act 1982(1) having effect on the date of the offence;

(c) “statutory maximum” means such sum as is for the time being the prescribed sum for the purposes of section 32 of the Magistrate’s Court Act 1980(2).
