The Social Security (National Insurance Number Information: Exemption) Regulations 1997

The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1(1C), 189(1), (3) and (4) and 191 of the Social Security Administration Act 1992(1), and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, by this instrument which contains only regulations made by virtue of section 19 of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) Act 1997 and is made before the end of the period of six months beginning with the coming into force of that enactment(2), and in so far as the regulations relate to housing benefit and council tax benefit after consulation with organisations appearing to her to be representative of the authorities concerned(3), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1992 c. 5; subsections (1A) to (1C) of section 1 were inserted by section 19 of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) Act 1997 (1997 c. 47); section 191 is an interpretation provision and is cited for the definition of “prescribe”.
