The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 1(4) of Schedule 6 to the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Act 1996(1), hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (Qualifying Authorities) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 8th July 1998.

2.  The Medway Towns District Council, being a relevant local authority which is not a qualifying authority and in respect of which a change of circumstances since the relevant date has significantly affected the way in which it carries out its functions, shall be a qualifying authority for the purposes of Schedule 6 to the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Act 1996.

Explanatory Note

(This Note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for the Medway Towns District Council to be a qualifying authority for the purposes of Schedule 6 to the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Act 1996.
