The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions as respects England, the Secretary of State for Wales as respects Wales and the Secretary of State for Scotland as respects Scotland, in exercise of powers conferred on them by sections 4(2) and 5 of the Reservoirs Act 1975(1), hereby make the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Reservoirs (Panels of Civil Engineers) (Applications and Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 19th October 1998.
2. Regulation 2 of the Reservoirs (Panels of Civil Engineers) (Applications and Fees) Regulations 1992(2) shall be amended as follows–
(a)in paragraph (1), after “Environment” insert “, Transport and the Regions”;
(b)in paragraph (2)(a), for “£230” substitute “£300”; and
(c)in paragraph (2)(b), for “£185” substitute “£250”.
3. The Reservoirs (Panels of Civil Engineers) (Application Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1994(3) are hereby revoked.

These Regulations amend the Reservoirs (Panels of Civil Engineers) (Applications and Fees) Regulations 1992, which prescribe the manner in which a civil engineer may apply to be appointed or reappointed to an existing panel of civil engineers set up for the purposes of the Reservoirs Act 1975, and the fee to accompany such an application, by increasing the fee for a first appointment from£230 to £300, and in other cases from £185 to £250. They also revoke previous regulations dealing with fees in relation to appointments to those panels.
