The Secretary of State–
having given any local authority affected and any other person affected an opportunity to submit objections or representations with respect to the subject matter of this Order;
having consulted with the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, being the advisory body he considered was best able to advise him as to whether the Order should be made;
in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 22(5) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (Variation of Schedule 9) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 28th April 1999.
2. The following animals are added to Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981(2)–

This Order adds hybrids of Sika Deer to Part I of Schedule 9 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, which lists animals which may not be released or allowed to escape into the wild in Great Britain. Sika Deer are already included in Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the 1981 Act.
The Order also adds all species of Cervus Deer (which includes Red Deer) and hybrids of Cervus Deer to Part I of Schedule 9 as respects the outer Hebrides and the islands of Arran, Islay, Jura and Rum.
