The Minister for the Civil Service, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(5) and (8)(a) of the Superannuation Act 1972(1) and now vested in him(2), hereby makes the following Order:—

Citation, Commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Superannuation (Admission to Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 10th February 2000, but shall have effect, where appropriate, from the dates specified in this Order.

(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Superannuation Act 1972.

Offices and Employments

2.  With effect from 1st April 1999:—

(a)the office of inspector of the Football Licensing Authority is hereby added to the offices listed in Schedule 1 to the Act,

(b)employment by the Football Licensing Authority is hereby added to the employment listed in Schedule 1 to the Act,

(c)employment by the Trustees of the National Heritage Memorial Fund is hereby added to those listed in Schedule 1 to the Act, and

with effect from 20th August 1999:—

(d)employment by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment is hereby added to those listed in Schedule 1 to the Act, and

(e)employment by the Royal Fine Art Commission is hereby removed from those listed in Schedule 1 to the Act.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

Section 1 of the Superannuation Act 1972 (under which the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme, the Civil Service Additional Voluntary Contribution Scheme and the Civil Service Compensation Scheme have been made) applies to employments and offices listed in Schedule 1 to that Act.

Article 2(a) of the Order adds to those listed in that Schedule the office of inspector of the Football Licensing Authority. Article 2(b) adds employment by the Football Licensing Authority to those listed in that Schedule. The Football Licensing Authority was established by the Football Spectators Act 1989 (c. 37) with power to appoint staff. It receives grant-in-aid from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Article 2(c) of the Order adds employment by the Trustees of the National Heritage Memorial Fund to those listed in that Schedule. The National Heritage Memorial Fund was established under the National Heritage Act 1980 (c. 17). It receives grant-in-aid from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

Article 2(d) of the Order adds employment by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment to those listed in that Schedule, with effect from 20th August 1999 when it took over the functions of the Royal Fine Art Commission. The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment is a company limited by guarantee. It receives grant-in-aid from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Under the powers conferred by section 1(8)(a) of the Superannuation Act 1972 the Order takes effect from the dates specified in Article 2.
