The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 11(1) and (2) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the National Health Service Trusts (Trust Funds: Appointment of Trustees) Amendment Order 2000 and shall come into force for all purposes other than article 2(b) on 29th November 2000 and for the purposes of article 2(b) on 1st April 2001.
(2) In this Order “the principal Order” means the National Health Service Trusts (Trust Funds: Appointment of Trustees) Order 2000(2).
2. The Schedule to the principal Order is amended by—
(a)inserting in the appropriate place in the alphabetical order the following entries—
The Barts and The London National Health Service Trust
The Birmingham Children’s Hospital National Health Service Trust
The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals National Health Service Trust
The Sheffield Teaching Hospitals National Health Service Trust
The St George’s Healthcare National Health Service Trust
The University Hospital Birmingham National Health Service Trust
(b)omitting the following entries—
The Central Sheffield University Hospitals National Health Service Trust
The Northern General Hospital National Health Service Trust.

This Order amends the National Health Service Trusts (Trust Funds: Appointment of Trustees) Order 2000 by adding 6 NHS trusts to the list of trusts for which the Secretary of State is to appoint trustees and by removing the name of 2 NHS trusts which are being dissolved. Under section 11(1) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 such trustees have power to accept, hold and administer trust property for the purposes of the NHS trust for which they are appointed or for any other purpose relating to the NHS.
