Control of Pollution Act 1974

38.  In section 73(1) of the Control of Pollution Act 1974(1) (interpretation), in the definition of “statutory undertakers”, for the words “the Post Office” are substituted the words “a universal service provider (within the meaning of the Postal Services Act 2000) in his capacity as a person who provides a universal postal service (within the meaning of that Act)”.

The definition of “statutory undertakers” in subsection (1) was amended by section 112(4) of, and Schedule 18 to, the Electricity Act 1989 (c. 29.), section 67(4) of, and Part I of Schedule 9 to, the Gas Act 1986 (c. 44.) and by section 190 of, and paragraph 48 of Schedule 25 to, the Water Act 1989 (c. 15.). There are other amendments not relevant to this Order.
