Citation, commencement and extent

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Representation of the People (Scotland) (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which they are made.

(2) These Regulations shall extend to Scotland only.

Amendment of the Representation of the People (Scotland) Regulations 2001

2.  The Representation of the People (Scotland) Regulations 2001(1) shall be amended as follows.

3.  In regulation 3(1) (interpretation), for the definition of “data” substitute–

“data” means information which is recorded with the intention that it should be processed by means of equipment operating automatically in response to instructions given for that purpose;.

4.  In regulation 47 (supply of free copies of register and list of overseas electors on request), after paragraph (1) insert–

(1A) For the purposes of this regulation “register” includes any revised version of the register under section 13(1) and (3) of the Representation of the People Act 1983(2) and any notice under sections 13A(2) and 13B(3) of that Act..

5.  In regulation 56(5) (closing date for applications), for sub-paragraphs (i) and (ii) substitute–

  • 5.00 p.m. on the eleventh day before the date of the poll at that election..
