Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These regulations amend three sets of regulations which refer to city academies. Section 67 of the Education Act 2002 provides that schools which had, prior to the commencement of that section, been known as city academies, will now be known as Academies. As a consequence of “city academies” becoming “Academies” three sets of regulations have been amended to refer to “Academies” rather than “city academies”. The four sets of regulations amended by these regulations are:

The Teacher Training Agency (Additional Functions) (No. 2) Order 2000;

The Education (Special Educational Needs) (England) (Consolidation) Regulations 2001; and

The Education (School Performance Information) (England) Regulations 2001.

(1)

2002 c. 32. See section 212 for the definition of “regulations”; by virtue of that definition these Regulations, made by the Secretary of State, only apply in relation to England.
