1. These Regulations may be cited as the Single European Sky (National Supervisory Authority) Regulations 2004 and shall come into force on 31st August 2004.
2. The Civil Aviation Authority shall be the national supervisory authority for the purpose of performing the tasks assigned to such an authority under the measures listed in the Schedule to these Regulations.
3. Section 4 of the Civil Aviation Act 1982 M3 (general objectives of the CAA) shall not apply to the tasks to which regulation 2 applies; and instead, in undertaking such tasks it shall be the duty of the Civil Aviation Authority to exercise their powers in a manner that ensures compliance with article 4.2 of Regulation (EC) No 549/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down the framework for the creation of the single European Sky (the framework Regulation) M4.

These Regulations specify the Civil Aviation Authority as the UK’s national supervisory authority for the purpose of performing the tasks assigned to such an authority under the measures listed in the Schedule to these Regulations relating to the provision of air navigation services in the single European sky.
