The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 140 of the Finance Act 2002 hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Finance Act 2002(1) Section 140 (Appointed Day) Order 2004.
2. The date appointed as the day upon which section 140 of the Finance Act 2002 (administration of UK gilts) is to come into force is 11th March 2004.

This Order brings section 140 of the Finance Act 2002 (c. 23) into force on 11th March 2004. That section amends section 47 of the Finance Act 1942 (c. 21) so as to permit the Treasury to make regulations for the administration of UK gilts by such person or persons as they appoint, and to make consequential incidental, supplementary and transitional provisions.
