2.  In this Schedule any reference to a named county is a reference to a county established by or under the Local Government Act 1972(3) or by an order made under section 17 of the Local Government Act 1992(4).

The name of the county was changed from Medway Towns to Medway from 1st April 1998 by a resolution passed by Medway Towns Council under section 74 of the Local Government Act 1972 (c. 70) on 1st April 1998.

The name of the county was changed from North West Somerset to North Somerset with effect from 28th June 2005 by a resolution passed by North Somerset District Council under section 74 of the Local Government Act 1972 (c. 70) on 28th June 2005.
