Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons’ Qualifications (European Recognition) Order 2007 and comes into force on 30th May 2007.

Amendments to the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966

2.  Amend the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966(1) as set out in the Schedule.

Amendments to the Veterinary Surgeons’ Qualifications (European Recognition) Order 2003

3.—(1) Amend the Veterinary Surgeons’ Qualifications (European Recognition) Order 2003(2) as follows.

(2) In article 2 (interpretation)—

(a)omit the definition of “EEA Agreement”;

(b)for the definition of “member State” substitute—

“member State” means EEA State or Switzerland;; and

(c)for the definition of “the Recognition Directive” substitute—

“the Recognition Directive” means Council Directive 78/1026/EEC concerning the mutual recognition of diplomas, certificates and other evidence of formal qualifications in veterinary medicine, including measures to facilitate the effective exercise of the right of establishment and freedom to provide services;(3).
