The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by sections 13(1) and 37(5) of the Registered Designs Act 1949(1), makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Designs (Convention Countries) (Amendment) Order 2009 and shall come into force on 12th November 2009.
2.—(1) The list of countries set out in the Schedule to the Designs (Convention Countries) Order 2007(2) is amended as follows.
(2) Insert “Cape Verde” into the list of countries in proper alphabetical order.

This Order amends the Designs (Convention Countries) Order 2007 (S.I. 2007/277) under powers conferred by sections 13(1) and 37(5) of the Registered Designs Act 1949 to fulfil the international obligations of the United Kingdom as a member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Cape Verde became a member of the WTO on 23rd July 2008. This Order declares Cape Verde to be a convention country for the purposes of all the provisions of the Registered Designs Act 1949.
