The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(1) of, and paragraph 4 of Schedule 1 to, the Building Act 1984(1):
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Building (Amendment) Regulations 2009 and shall come into force on 1st April 2009.
2.—(1) The Building Regulations 2000(2) are amended as follows.
(2) In the Table in Schedule 2A(3) (self-certification schemes)—
(a)in column 2 of paragraph 2 after “A person registered by” insert “Capita Gas Registration and Ancillary Services Limited(4) or”;
(b)in column 2 of paragraph 9 for “The Electrical Contractors Association Limited” substitute “EC Certification Limited(5)”;
(c)in column 2 of paragraph 10 omit “ELECSA Limited,”; and
(d)in column 2 of paragraph 11 for “ELECSA Limited” substitute “EC Certification Limited”.

These Regulations amend the Building Regulations 2000.
Regulation 2 of these Regulations amends Schedule 2A to the Building Regulations 2000. Sub-paragraph (2)(a) adds Capita Gas Registration and Ancillary Services Limited to those bodies in paragraph 2 of Schedule 2A which are able to register persons for the purposes of self-certification schemes (that is, schemes where a person can self-certify that work complies with building regulations) in respect of the installation of a heating or hot water service system connected to a heat-producing gas appliance, or associated controls.
Regulation 2(2)(b), (c) and (d) amends Schedule 2A to reflect the decision of the Electrical Contractors Association to operate all of its self-certification schemes under one company, EC Certification Limited.
