The Secretary of State is a Minister designated for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(1) in relation to measures relating to redundancy among steel workers(2).
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 the Secretary of State makes the following Regulations.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Iron and Steel Employees Re-adaptation Benefits Scheme) (No. 2) (Revocation) Regulations 2012 and come into force on 1st October 2012.
2. The following Regulations are revoked—
(a)the European Communities (Iron and Steel Employees Re-adaptation Benefits Scheme) (No. 2) Regulations 1988(3);
(b)the European Communities (Iron and Steel Employees Re-adaptation Benefits Scheme) (No. 2) (Scheme Termination) Regulations 1994(4);
(c)the European Communities (Iron and Steel Employees Re-adaptation Benefits Scheme) (No. 2) (Amendment) Regulations 1996(5).

These Regulations revoke the European Communities (Iron and Steel Employees Re-adaptation Benefits Scheme) (No. 2) Regulations 1988 (S.I. 1988/538) (the “1988 Regulations”), the European Communities (Iron and Steel Employees Re-adaptation Benefits Scheme) (No. 2) (Scheme Termination) Regulations 1994 (S.I. 1994/141) (the “1994 Regulations”) and the European Communities (Iron and Steel Employees Re-adaptation Benefits Scheme) (No. 2) (Amendment) Regulations 1996 (S.I. 1996/3182) (the “1996 Regulations”). The 1988 Regulations, the 1994 Regulations and the 1996 Regulations relate to a scheme for the payment of benefits to certain steel workers. Subject to transitional provisions, the scheme was terminated by the 1994 Regulations. The 1996 Regulations amended the scheme, as continued in force under the transitional provisions. The 1988 Regulations, the 1994 Regulations and the 1996 Regulations no longer contain any relevant operative provisions and are revoked by these Regulations.
An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen. The Explanatory Memorandum is published with these Regulations on www.legislation.gov.uk.
