Following a request by the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission, the Minister of State for Schools makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8B(5) and section 28(1) of the Child Poverty Act 2010(1).
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Child Poverty Act 2010 (Extension of Publication Deadline) Order 2013.
(2) It comes into force on 25th March 2013.
2. The publication deadline, before which the Commission would otherwise be required by section 8B(1) of the Child Poverty Act 2010(2) to publish its first annual report, is extended from 8th May 2013 to 26th September 2013.

Section 8B(1) of the Child Poverty Act 2010 (c.9) requires the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission (“the Commission”) to publish its first annual report before 8th May 2013. This Order, made under section 8B(5) of that Act following a request by the Commission, extends the publication deadline so that the report may be published at any time before 26th September 2013.
A full impact assessment has not been published for this instrument as it has no impact on the private sector or civil society organisations.
2010 c.9. Section 8 is substituted, and sections 8A to 8C inserted, by paragraph 2 of Schedule 13 to the Welfare Reform Act 2012 (c.5) (“the 2012 Act”).
Section 8B(1) requires the Commission to publish a report before each anniversary of the coming into force of section 8B. Section 8B came into force on 8th May 2012 by virtue of section 150(2)(j) of the 2012 Act. “The Commission” is defined in section 8(1) of the Child Poverty Act 2010.
