The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Coroners and Justice Act 2009(1) and after consulting in accordance with that paragraph, makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Alteration of Coroner Areas) Order 2015 and comes into force on 2nd April 2015.
2. In this Order—
“coroner area” means a coroner area constituted by the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Coroner Areas and Assistant Coroners) Transitional Order 2013(2);
“new coroner area” means the new coroner area resulting from the combining of the coroner areas as set out in Article 3.
3. The coroner area of Liverpool and the coroner area of Wirral are combined into the new coroner area of Liverpool and Wirral.

The Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Coroner Areas and Assistant Coroners) Transitional Order 2013, which came into force on 25th July 2013, constituted the former coroners’ districts under the Coroners Act 1988 as corresponding coroner areas under the Coroners and Justice Act 2009.
This Order combines the coroner area of Liverpool and the coroner area of Wirral into a new single coroner area to be called Liverpool and Wirral.
An impact assessment has not been prepared for this instrument as no impact on the costs of business or the voluntary sector is foreseen.
