2. In this Order—
“the 2009 Act” means the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009;
[F1“the 2023 Act” means the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023;]
“combined authority” means a combined authority established under section 103(1) of the 2009 Act M1;
“combined authority returning officer” has the same meaning as in article 2 of the Combined Authorities (Mayoral Elections) Order 2017 M2;
[F1“combined county authority” means a combined county authority established under section 9(1) of the 2023 Act;]
[F1“combined county authority returning officer” has the same meaning as in article 2 of the Combined Authorities (Mayoral Elections) Order 2017;]
“election petition” means a petition presented in pursuance of Part 3 of the Representation of the People Act 1983 M3;
“local government elector” means a person registered as a local government elector in the register of electors in accordance with section 2 of the Representation of the People Act 1983 M4; and
“proper officer” has the meaning given by section 270(3) of the Local Government Act 1972 M5.
