The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 36(6) of the Welfare Reform and Work Act 2016(1).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Welfare Reform and Work Act 2016 (Commencement No. 5) Regulations 2017.
2. Section 20(2) to (7) and (10) of the Welfare Reform and Work Act 2016 (consequential amendments) comes into force on 27th July 2017.

These Regulations bring into force provisions in the Welfare Reform and Work Act 2016 (c. 7) relating to loans for mortgage interest.
Regulation 2 brings section 20(2) to (7) and (10) (which contains consequential amendments to primary legislation) into force on 27th July 2017.
Those consequential amendments:
bring regulations about loans for mortgage interest within the remit of the Social Security Advisory Committee (section 20(2));
apply various procedural provisions that apply to social security benefits to decisions about loans for mortgage interest (section 20(3) to (7));
apply provisions on information sharing between the Secretary of State and local authorities and other persons to loans for mortgage interest (section 20(10)).
