The Flags (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Regulations 2022

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by article 3 of the Flags (Northern Ireland) Order 2000 (“the 2000 Order”)(1).

In accordance with article 4(1) of the 2000 Order, on 5th November 2021 the Secretary of State referred a draft of the Regulations the Secretary of State proposed to make under the 2000 Order to the Northern Ireland Assembly (“the Assembly”).

In accordance with article 4(2) of the 2000 Order, on 9th November 2021 (being within the period specified by the Secretary of State), the Assembly reported to the Secretary of State the views expressed in the Assembly on the proposed Regulations.

In accordance with article 4(3) of the 2000 Order, the Secretary of State has considered the Assembly’s report on the proposed Regulations.

In accordance with article 4(4) of the 2000 Order, the Secretary of State has, in exercising the powers under article 3 of that Order, had regard to the Belfast Agreement(2).

In accordance with article 4(5) of the 2000 Order, a draft of these Regulations was laid before and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament and in accordance with article 4(6) the draft laid before Parliament was accompanied by a copy of the Assembly’s Report considered by the Secretary of State.
