1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) (Wales) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 9th February 2000.
(2) These Regulations apply only to Wales.

2. In relation to any financial year beginning on or after 1st April 2000, the Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) Regulations 1992(3), the Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) (Amendment) 1993(4), the Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) (Amendment) Regulations 1995(5) the Revenue Support Grant (Specified Bodies) (Amendment) Regulations 1998(6) are hereby revoked.

Sections 78 and 79 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 provide for revenue support grant to be payable to any body which provides services for local authorities and which is specified by the Secretary of State in regulations. These powers are now vested in the National Assembly for Wales in relation to Wales.
These Regulations specify bodies for this purpose. The previous Regulations are revoked and replaced by these Regulations in relation to financial years beginning on or after 1st April 2000. Syniad (the Welsh Improvement, Development and Employers' Agency), becomes a specified body for the purposes of section 78.
