Telecommunications (Security) Act 2021

Territorial extent and application

  1. The Act extends and applies to the whole of the UK.
  2. Telecommunications and wireless telegraphy are reserved matters under each of the devolution settlements: see paragraph C10 in Part II of Schedule 5 to the Scotland Act 1998, paragraph 83 in section C9 of Part 2 of Schedule 7A to the Government of Wales Act 2006, and paragraph 29 of Schedule 3 to the Northern Ireland Act 1998.
  3. National security is also a reserved or excepted matter under each of the devolution settlements: see paragraph B8 of Part II of Schedule 5 to the Scotland Act 1998, paragraph 32 in section B3 of Part 2 of Schedule 7A to the Government of Wales Act 2006, and paragraph 17 of Schedule 2 to the Northern Ireland Act 1998.
