4.—(1) Commission Regulation (EU) No 1003/2010 of 8 November 2010 concerning type-approval requirements for the space for mounting and the fixing of rear registration plates on motor vehicles and their trailers(1) is amended as follows.
(2) In Article 2 (Provisions for GB type-approval of a motor vehicle or a trailer with regard to the space for mounting and the fixing of rear registration plates) for paragraph 3, substitute—
“3. If the relevant requirements set out in either—
(a)Annex II to this Regulation, or
(b)subject to paragraph 3A, Part 2 of Annex III to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/535(2) as it applies in EU law on the date that the Road Vehicles (Type-Approval) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 are made,
are met, the approval authority shall grant a GB type-approval and issue a type-approval number in accordance with the numbering system set out in Annex IV to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/683.
The approval authority may not assign the same number to another vehicle type.
3A. Where type-approval is sought pursuant to paragraph 3(b) above, the relevant requirements—
(a)do not include the requirements within that Part—
(i)at points 2.1.2. and 2.4.5.; or
(ii)any which relate to front registration plates; and
(b)include the requirement at point 1.2.3. of Annex II to this Regulation.”.
