Section 21 of the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004 (“the Act”) requires the Welsh Ministers to prepare a Fire and Rescue National Framework (“Framework”), which must set out priorities and objectives for Fire and Rescue Authorities and may provide guidance. Fire and Rescue Authorities must have regard to the Framework in carrying out their functions.
Article 2 of this Order, which has effect in relation to Fire and Rescue Authorities in Wales, substitutes the Fire and Rescue National Framework for Wales 2008 — 2011 for the Fire and Rescue National Framework (Wales) 2005.
The Fire and Rescue National Framework for Wales 2008 — 2011 will have effect from 22 September 2008. The Fire and Rescue National Framework (Wales) 2005 was given effect by SI 2005/760 (W.64). Copies of the Fire and Rescue National Framework for Wales 2008 — 2011 may be obtained from Fire and Rescue Services Branch, Welsh Assembly Government, Rhyd y car, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 1UZ. It was published on the Welsh Assembly Government website (http://new.wales.gov.uk/topics/housingandcommunity/safety/fire/?lang=en) on 28 August 2008.
